I was told by a friend that he had a disturbing experience in the emergency department one day.  He was physically restrained in response to his extreme agitation brought on by the challenges of the current hospital environment.  I was inspired by his experience and this led to this series of hospital watercolours depicting patients in various degrees of restraint.  I wanted to create a dichotomy between an extreme confined or trapped situation  and a soft, loose and free flowing watercolour effect.
