I’m interested in people I see around me on my travels around the city and depicting them in my work. During the tourist season I saw many cruise ship passengers exploring the area where I wait for transit to my studio and got interested in the “tourist” and what they represent. I became intrigued by the “ love/hate” relationship we have with tourists. The dichotomy between the economic necessity for them and the displeasure of their invasion into our space. This series depicts tourists staring at us as we observe them in equal discomfort. Do we love them or hate them?
